We’ve long been fans of author David Levithan, and this week marks the release of his latest novel, Two Boys Kissing. It’s been 10 years since Levithan’s debut, Boy Meets Boy, hit shelves and presented readers with a Young Adult romance about a gay couple, in a world where that was unquestioned and lovely. Here’s me giving the So-Good sigh.
The cover of Boy Meets Boy features candy hearts. It’s simple and well designed, and it worked 10 years ago. But as Levithan has said of this latest book’s cover, “I felt quite adamantly that if you have a book titled Two Boys Kissing, you should show two boys kissing on the cover.” It’s just one (awesome) visual to show how far we’ve come in the last 10 years.
Publishers Weekly called the book “A landmark achievement from a writer and editor who has helped create, in literature, a haven for queer youth.”
And, for the first two weeks the book is on sale (through 9/10), Levithan will donate $2 for every book or ebook sold to The Trevor Project, an amazing national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people. What does this all add up to? Go buy this one, soon.
