Guest Post: A-Z Beauty Tips

We’re happy to say she’s one of I Heart Daily’s guest bloggers, and today she’s giving us her A-Z Tips for Beauty. (Thanks, Kate!)

A is for always applying sunscreen. Sunscreen is your best friend and should be worn every day, even if you are only planning to spend short periods of time outside. UV rays can penetrate windows, so you can burn indoors and in the car.

B is for blend. Blend foundation over the edges yours lips before applying lipstick or lip-gloss. By applying to the edges of your lips, the final shade will look much closer to the original color of the lipstick or gloss.

C is for cleaning your make up brushes. Dampen the bristles of your make up brush and apply a small amount of face wash and rinse the brush until the water runs clear. Run the brushes along a towel and allow to air dry.

D is for dip dying your hair. To dip dye your hair using chalk, twist your hair as you rub it along the section of hair you want colored. To allow the chalk to release more pigment, wet your hair.  Do not wet your hair if you have blond hair as the color may become permanent.

E is for eye shadow. To quickly apply eye shadow, apply to the entire mobile lid. Once this is complete, apply eye shadow in the crease of your eye, half way up to your eyebrow. To really open your eyes, apply a thin line under your eyelashes.

F is for not filing the corners of your nails! Filing the corners of your finger nails will weaken them and result in them breaking more often.

G is for gorgeous hair.  This tip can be credited to the beautiful, Hungarian model, Barbara Palvin. Only wash your scalp with shampoo, not your hair, and only condition your hair, not your scalp! It leaves it looking cleaner and in a better condition!

H is for healthier nails. Moisturizing your hands and nails, your nails should remain healthy and flexible. Keeping yourself healthy should also make your nails healthier too!

I is for indestructible luscious locks. To naturally strengthen your hair, regularly have your hair trimmed and care for your scalp well. Massage your scalp daily to increase circulation and stimulate the hair follicles. Deep conditioning your hair and ensuring you are getting enough vitamin A, C, E and B complex in your diet will also help.

J is for just amazing eyebrows. Spray a toothbrush with hairspray and brush your eyebrows. The stickiness of the hairspray will help keep them in place.

K is for killer eyelashes. Heat your eyelash curler with a hairdryer for a couple of seconds before using. It will act as a curling iron for your lashes.

L is for lipstick shades. If you are fair skinned, stick to soft brown colors that have a warm, pink glow. Those with olive skin should wear nudes and light browns with warm tones. Deep reds with purple or blue tones and colors with deep red and browns undertones should be reserved for those with beautiful dark skin.

M is for moisturizer! It doesn’t matter if your skin is oily, dry or normal, your skin needs moisture. Moisturize your face morning and night to keep your skin hydrated and to help balance oiliness and treat issues, such as pigmentation.

N is for nude lips. Cover your lips in any type of foundation (whether it be liquid or powder) or dab a few dots of concealer onto your bottom and top lip. Make sure you slightly cover the skin around your lips. Then apply a clear lip-gloss over the top or using your finger, gently apply a pink lip-gloss if you find that the nude is too pale.

O is for the order you apply concealer. If you are trying to cover pimples, apply your concealer after your foundation, otherwise it will just rub off! But if you are trying to hide bags under your eyes, apply your concealer before your foundation.

P is for perfect lashes. To apply mascara perfectly, move the brush side to side at the base of the lashes. Pull the wand upwards and through your eyelashes, wiggling as you go. Lightly powdering your eyelashes will also help, as it will give the mascara something to cling to.

Q is for a quick remedy to dry feet. Create a homemade foot scrub by putting 4 tablespoons of sugar in 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. Use this scrub and then soak your feet in a bath made with 1 cup of milk and 5 cups of warm water.

R is for reducing eye puffiness. Take a metal spoon and run it under cold water. Place the spoon on the puffy area of the eye for sixty seconds.

S is for soft lips. Cover a new toothbrush and apply Vaseline or petroleum jelly to the bristles and brush your lips gently until the dead skin is removed.

T is terrific eye liner. To apply eye liner, start by lining the roots of your top lashes and once you are satisfied with this, move onto your lower lashes. It is best to start from the outside of the eye and work your way inwards.

U is for unbelievably fashionable lips! Fashion blocking isn’t a trend that needs to be confined to your clothing and accessories so don’t let it be. A bright lip color instantly adds to any outfit and is fun and bang on trend.

V is for volume. Rub baby powder onto your scalp and leave it there for a few minutes before brushing out. Ensure you only apply it to the scalp though to prevent it showing through your hair. Baby powder can also be used instead of dry shampoo and vice versa.

W is for white teeth. Cover a toothbrush in mashed strawberry and brush your teeth, this will remove any stains and discoloration.

X is for extra clear skin. Mash half a ripe papaya with two tablespoons of milk and apply it to your face by gently rubbing it in. The papaya contains papain which will help to remove dead skin cells and unclog the pores of the skin.

Y is for youthful, acne free skin. Mix together milk and a small amount of mustard powder in a cup and, using a cotton bud, massage your pores. Leave the mask on for ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing off.

Z is for plenty of zzz’s. Beauty sleep is essential as if you haven’t slept you will look tireder and less attractive. A lack of sleep increases your stress levels, suppresses your immune system, interferes with your memory and learning, results in the skin ageing faster and weight gain as it stimulates your appetite.
